Garage door repair in Robstown is mostly springs, openers and wind damage, with less salt than the bayfront but the same windstorm rules. To get help, send a request with the form, and choose "Robstown."
Corpus Garage Door is a referral website, not a garage door company. We send your request to one independent local garage door company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals. Pricing and scheduling come from that company.
What's different about Robstown
An inland crossroads town. The Texas State Historical Association places Robstown "at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and State Highway 44 in north central Nueces County." It was founded about 1906 at a railroad junction, named for Robert Driscoll, and incorporated in 1912; TSHA says its economy rests on the surrounding agricultural and petroleum interests. The Census Bureau estimates about 10,300 residents (July 2025).
Less salt, but not none. FEMA's coastal corrosion bulletin says salt spray falls off sharply within 300 to 3,000 feet of the shoreline and that faster corrosion has been measured as far as 5 to 10 miles inland, with rates farther out closer to milder inland conditions. Robstown sits well west of the bay, so rust usually isn't the first suspect here. When a spring breaks here, ordinary wear is the first thing to check. HomeAdvisor puts torsion spring life at about 10,000 to 20,000 cycles, or roughly 8 to 15 years, depending on use.
Wind doesn't stop at the coast. Inland doesn't mean sheltered. During Hurricane Celia in 1970, the National Weather Service estimated a gust of 180 mph at Robstown, tied with Aransas Pass for the highest of the storm, and listed Robstown among the hardest-hit areas. During Harvey in 2017, the Weather Service recorded a 58 mph gust in Robstown. A door that's open in a gust can come off its tracks.
Same county, same windstorm question. Robstown is in Nueces County, one of the 14 first-tier coastal counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. The Texas Department of Insurance tells homeowners in those counties to ask their insurance agent whether garage door repairs need to meet the building code, and inspected work that passes earns a Form WPI-8. Before replacing a door, ask your agent or call TDI at (800) 248-6032.
Robstown's own building department. Permits and inspections in Robstown go through the city's Building & Development Department at 101 E. Main St., (361) 387-4589, option 5. The city's permit page posts a building permit application, a contractor registration form and a homeowner's work affidavit. Ask the company whether it's registered with Robstown and who pulls the permit for a new door.

Before you get in touch
- Note whether the door stopped after a bang (spring), a storm (wind or track), or slowly got worse (opener, rollers).
- Find the opener brand and model on the motor unit's label.
- If wind damaged the door, photograph it before any repair.
- If you're replacing the door, call your insurance agent first, then ask the company about Robstown's permit.

Robstown is inland. Do the windstorm rules still apply?
Robstown is in Nueces County, which is in TWIA's coverage area, so the same question applies as on the coast. Before replacing a garage door, ask your insurance agent or TDI at (800) 248-6032 whether the job needs a windstorm inspection.
